Stage one: Early Access on January 7, 2027
Early Access was moved from October 27, 2026 to January 7, 2027 in a developer announcement on October 26. The studio linked the decision to feedback from the Steam Next Fest demo and said the extra time is for improvements to the launch build.
According to the developer’s FAQ, Early Access starts with the first major biome, single-player play and nine launch languages. Coverage of the delay reports that the launch build will also include content first planned for the initial post-launch update.
Updates during Early Access
The developer describes Early Access as an evolving release. New biomes, balance changes and fixes are expected to arrive through updates. Coverage of the delay mentions both large and small updates after launch, without a published schedule.
The demo already received a patch on October 22, 2026, fixing items such as crafting stations and item collection. Expect the same pattern in Early Access, with patch notes in the developer’s Steam news feed.
Stage two: the 1.0 release
Co-op is planned for 1.0 rather than the Early Access launch. Console versions are also part of the 1.0 plan, although no specific console has been named in the official material we collected. Delay coverage adds modding support to the 1.0 list.
The Steam store estimates roughly 18 months of Early Access, depending on development. That is an estimate, not a date. We do not add 18 months to January 2027 and call it a 1.0 release date.
Roadmap at a glance
This list separates what has been stated by the developer from what is only an estimate. Anything outside it is unconfirmed.
- January 7, 2027: Early Access, first major biome, single-player, Windows PC on Steam.
- During Early Access: content and balance updates, no fixed schedule.
- Planned for 1.0: co-op, console versions, modding support.
- 1.0 date: not announced; roughly 18 months of Early Access estimated.
Rumored items we have not confirmed
Some outlets list specific changes, such as reworked bow combat, as part of the delay. We could not match every item to the developer’s own announcement, so we do not present them as roadmap entries.
Treat feature lists on video thumbnails and reposted images the same way. If an item is not in a Cygnus Cross post on Steam, Discord or the official press page, it is a guess until confirmed.
How to follow roadmap changes
The developer’s Steam news feed is the main place for schedule and feature announcements. Following the game on Steam or wishlisting it sends those updates to your account.
We update this page when the developer publishes a new roadmap or a 1.0 date. Our release date, co-op and console pages carry the details for each planned item.
