Single-player at Early Access launch
The developer’s October 19, 2026 FAQ states that Early Access launches as single-player. The Steam store’s product features also list single-player as the current mode. Two official sources agree on the launch scope. There is no co-op mode to use on October 27.
That applies to all forms of playing together, online or local. If you are buying Early Access to play with friends, it will not support that at launch. Each player would be playing their own single-player game. Keep that in mind before buying multiple copies.
Co-op is planned for 1.0
The developer’s FAQ lists co-op as planned for the 1.0 release. That is a roadmap commitment, not a delivered feature. It means co-op is intended to arrive by the time the game leaves Early Access. No 1.0 date has been announced.
The Steam store estimates roughly 18 months of Early Access, subject to development changes. That gives a rough sense of the horizon. It is not a co-op release date. Plans can shift during development.
How the developer’s wording changed
In September 2026, a developer-tagged reply in the Steam co-op discussion described co-op as being explored for 1.0. The newer October FAQ states it more firmly as planned. That is a step forward in commitment. Neither statement shows working multiplayer.
Ordinary player replies in that discussion are not developer commitments. Only the developer-tagged posts reflect official plans. An older development-era Q&A video also exists, but newer statements take priority. We rely on the October FAQ as the current position.
Online, local and split-screen are different
Co-op can mean several things. Online co-op connects players over the internet. Local co-op shares one machine, and split-screen divides one display. Each is a separate technical promise.
The collected sources say co-op is planned but do not specify which type. Local co-op and split-screen were not verified. Neither was dedicated or player-hosted server support. We will not assume one form until the developer says so.
Player count and cross-play
No player count has been confirmed for co-op. We have not seen a verified statement of two, four or any other number. Guessing a party size would mislead anyone planning to play with a group. This page leaves it open.
Cross-platform play is also unconfirmed. Console versions are planned for 1.0 as well, but no specific console has been named. Whether consoles and PC could play together has not been addressed in the collected sources. That question will need its own announcement.
No co-op workaround at launch
Some players look for unofficial ways to play together before co-op exists. We do not recommend or describe workarounds. They are unsupported and could cause problems with saves or stability. The supported way to play at launch is single-player.
If co-op matters most to you, waiting for 1.0 is reasonable. In the meantime, the single-player Early Access offers the first major biome. You can also follow development through official channels. That way you will know when co-op actually arrives.
How to recheck after a roadmap update
Co-op plans are likely to be updated during Early Access. Watch the developer’s news feed on Steam for official announcements. Developer-tagged replies in the Steam discussions can also add detail. Treat player speculation separately from developer posts.
When a new statement appears, check its date and whether it is from the developer. Newer official statements replace older ones. We will update this page as the plan becomes more specific. If you spot an official change first, please send us the link.
What single-player Early Access offers
Even without co-op, Early Access has plenty to do alone. The developer says it launches with the first major biome, and the Steam page describes rescuing survivors and restoring the town of Emberville. Combat relies on positioning, timing and weapon combos. Classes, skill inheritance, gathering and crafting all feed your progress.
Those systems are designed around a single player today. When co-op arrives, how they work with friends has not been explained. For example, it is unknown how rescued characters or town progress would be shared. That is another reason to wait for official details before planning a group run.
Buying now versus waiting for co-op
If you enjoy playing alone, Early Access is available from October 27, 2026. The developer announces $29.99 USD, or $26.99 USD during the 10% launch offer. The Steam store describes a one-time purchase. Whether co-op will cost anything extra when it arrives has not been announced.
If co-op is the main reason you want the game, waiting is reasonable. Co-op is planned for 1.0, which has no announced date. The Steam store estimates roughly 18 months of Early Access, subject to change. Trying the free demo first is a low-cost way to decide in the meantime.
Why we do not guess co-op details
Many games of this kind support a set number of players, and it is tempting to assume the same here. We have not found a developer statement that gives a number for Emberville. An assumption could lead a group to buy copies expecting something that may not arrive in that form. Leaving it open is the more useful answer.
The same applies to features such as drop-in play or shared worlds. Those have not been described in the collected sources. Once the developer publishes details, we will add them here with dates. Until then, the confirmed facts are single-player now and co-op planned for 1.0.
