Who CohhCarnage is
CohhCarnage is the online name of Ben Cassel, a long-running Twitch and YouTube streamer known for long playthroughs of RPGs. Many players searching for Emberville first heard about it through his channel. That is why his name appears so often next to the game in search.
Some outlets spell his surname Cassel and others Cassell. Both refer to the same person. We use Cassel here, matching most coverage. The spelling does not change anything about the game.
His link to Cygnus Cross
Emberville is developed and published by Cygnus Cross, an independent studio. Emberville is its debut game, and there is no outside publisher listed. Coverage of the launch announcement describes the studio as co-owned by CohhCarnage. Earlier announcements described the game as being developed in partnership with him.
That makes him more than a streamer covering a game. He has a stake in the studio behind it. Keep that in mind when you watch his footage: it is enthusiastic coverage from someone involved in the project. That is not a criticism, just useful context.
Job titles vary between sources
Different sites give him different titles, such as co-founder, co-owner or a creative or game director role. We have not found one official studio page that settles the exact wording. Rather than pick one, this page sticks to what most sources agree on: he co-owns the studio and is involved with the game.
If Cygnus Cross publishes an official team page or credits list, that will be the source to trust. Game credits at launch are another reliable place. We will update this section when an official title is available.
What he has shown of Emberville
Development-era videos have featured CohhCarnage talking about the game. One official Q&A covers nine things players did not know about Emberville. His own channel posted development updates, including footage of the main town and a creative building area. These videos date from 2025, well before Early Access.
Because they are older, details may have changed. Systems shown in development can be reworked before launch. Use them to get a feel for the game, then check current patch notes for specifics. The official Steam news feed is the most current source.
What Emberville actually is
Emberville is a dark-fantasy action RPG with pixel art, town building and farming. You rebuild a town on the surface and explore dangerous areas beneath it. Previews compare it to games such as Stardew Valley, Terraria and Core Keeper. Combat and class building sit at the center of the loop.
The game enters Steam Early Access on October 27, 2026, for Windows PC. It launches as a single-player game with the first major biome. Co-op and console versions are planned for later. Our release date and Early Access pages cover those details.
The voice cast and the streamer connection
Emberville has a large voice cast. Announced names include Alex Jordan, Doug Cockle, Abubakar Salim and Amelia Tyler, along with Matthew Mercer, Jennifer English, Ben Starr and others. Content creators such as LilyPichu also appear in the cast.
That mix of professional actors and creators reflects the studio’s ties to the streaming community. It is part of why the game gets so much attention on Twitch and YouTube. The full cast list was published with the October 27 date announcement.
Claims we could not confirm
Search results sometimes add details that no official source backs up. We have not confirmed any claim about how much of the game he designed personally, ownership percentages, or revenue arrangements. Those are not public. Treat confident statements about them as guesses.
- Confirmed: he is reported as a co-owner of Cygnus Cross.
- Confirmed: he has appeared in official and personal development videos.
- Not confirmed: an official, single job title.
- Not confirmed: ownership share or business terms.
